Jennifer and John were married on the Bürgenstock on 1 September 2026, a good 400 metres above Lake Lucerne. The ceremony took place in the afternoon in the small chapel, the party in the evening in a hall beneath old timber beams.
The wedding was planned by Melanie Thun, a wedding planner from Switzerland. She describes the Bürgenstock like this: up on the mountain, your guests feel completely lifted out of everyday life. No traffic, no rush, just a mountain, a lake and a whole resort for the weekend.
On the dance floor
Thirty guests, every one of them from the United States. The room was small, the band stood right among the guests, and the dance floor was packed. What stays with us from that evening are the people: warm, open and in the thick of it rather than on the sidelines. We filmed from the stage.

The Bürgenstock
In 1873, Franz Josef Bucher and Josef Durrer opened their first hotel on the Bürgenstock. Guests from all over the world have made their way up ever since. In 1954, Audrey Hepburn was married in the chapel on the Bürgenstock.
Wedding band in Lucerne
