The band
MAXiN is a Swiss band, and a name rather than a job description. At its heart are two familiar faces: Fabienne Hauser at the microphone and Gianni D’Agostino behind the drums, singing and leading the musicians. They have shared a stage for ten years. Around them, a line-up of professional musicians is assembled to suit each occasion. The instrumentalists may change; Fabienne and Gianni remain at the heart of MAXiN.
There are no music stands on our stage, and no lyrics, whether on paper, on screens or on iPads. Musicians who know their material by heart can keep their eyes on the room, and because their eyes are on the room there is no setlist at all: the bandleader decides live what comes next. We sing in English, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, French and German, including Swiss German, the way each song is meant to sound.
Sardinia, the Amalfi Coast in Italy, France, Denmark and, more than once, the Zurich Opera House. Most evenings never end up on video. There is only so much a page can tell you about a band. The live videos show the rest.
Musical concept & staging
Some evenings begin long before the first note.
MAXiN develops bespoke musical concepts in which the music is part of the idea from the outset, rather than an addition to a finished programme. From different line-ups to the staging of particular moments.
Those who choose this route do so at the start of the planning. Here, the music is not added afterwards. It helps shape the evening from the very beginning.
